Proof That “I’ve Looked Everywhere” Is Not Always True


Once upon a time, in a perfectly ordinary house filled with four children, seven cats and approximately one million pieces of Lego, there lived a girl called Lily.

One day Lily misplaced her mobile phone.

Not just misplaced it in the usual “it’s under the cushion” kind of way. No. This phone disappeared so completely that it entered the family mystery archives.

At first the search was calm and sensible.

“Have you checked your room?”

“Yes.”

“Have you checked under your bed?”

“Yes.”

“Have you checked your school bag?”

“Yes.”

Soon the search escalated.

Sofas were lifted. Beds were moved. Drawers that had not been opened since approximately 2017 were inspected. School bags were emptied. Jackets were searched. Every surface was checked with the intensity of a police investigation.

Lily remained completely certain.

“It is definitely not in my bedroom.”

She had looked everywhere. Every corner. Every drawer. Every possible place a phone could exist.

Weeks passed.

The phone was officially declared Missing In Action.

Then today happened.

One last hopeful search began. Not because anyone truly believed it would appear, but because sometimes you check things again just in case.
