We were really excited to try both of these dining experiences—and they ended up being completely different.
If you’re trying to decide between them, here’s our honest comparison as a family of 6.
Be Our Guest (Magic Kingdom)
This is the one everyone talks about—and visually, it is stunning.
You’re eating inside the Beast’s castle, and the theming is beautiful. The ballroom in particular feels grand, busy, and quite posh compared to other Disney dining experiences.
It definitely feels more like a sit-down, special occasion meal.
However, in terms of characters, it was quite limited. The Beast doesn’t come around to tables—instead, he does a timed walk-through roughly every 30 minutes. So while you do see him, there’s no real interaction, which was a bit of a letdown, especially with kids.
Minnie’s Hollywood & Vine (Hollywood Studios)
This was a completely different vibe—and honestly, we preferred it.
It’s more relaxed, with a diner-style setting, and the food is buffet (all-you-can-eat), which worked really well for us as a family.
There was loads of choice, everyone could eat what they actually wanted, and we didn’t feel rushed at all.
But the biggest difference? The characters.
We met:
- Minnie
- Mickey
- Goofy
- Pluto
And they actually came to the table, interacted properly, took photos, and made it feel like a real experience—not just a meal.
It felt more personal, more fun, and much more geared towards families.
Food Comparison
This was a big one for us.
Be Our Guest felt more formal and “posh”, but if we’re being honest, we actually preferred the buffet food at Hollywood & Vine.
Having the freedom to choose what you want, go back for more, and keep things simple just worked better—especially with kids.
Overall Comparison
Be Our Guest:
- Beautiful, immersive setting
- More formal sit-down meal
- Busier, especially in the ballroom
- Limited character interaction
Minnie’s Hollywood & Vine:
- Relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere
- Buffet (all-you-can-eat)
- Multiple character interactions
- More fun and engaging overall
Final Thoughts
Be Our Guest is definitely worth seeing—it’s stunning and feels special.
But if we had to choose just one to do again?
Minnie’s Hollywood & Vine, without a doubt.
The combination of buffet food, character interaction, and a more relaxed environment just made it a better overall experience for our family.
