Disney with kids can feel like a lot.
The planning, the walking, the heat, the constant “I’m hungry”… it’s full on.
But a few simple things made a huge difference for us—and honestly, none of them were complicated.
Snacks (The Real MVP)
We always had snacks on us, and this was probably one of the biggest wins of the trip.
Our go-to stash:
- Goldfish crackers
- Mini Pringles tubs
- Jolly Rancher drink powder
It meant:
- No constant snack buying
- No meltdowns while queuing
- Something quick and easy whenever needed
Fixing the Water (Because It Tastes… Off)
One thing we didn’t expect?
The water.
It has a really strong taste—honestly, a bit chemical compared to what we’re used to in the UK.
Adding Jolly Rancher powder completely changed it.
Suddenly:
- Everyone drank more
- No complaints
- We didn’t need to keep buying drinks
Proper Shoes (Non-Negotiable)
All the girls had:
- New Skechers trainers
And they were perfect.
No blisters, no complaints, no needing to stop because someone’s feet hurt—which is a big deal when you’re walking all day.
Hats and A Lot of Suncream
Simple but essential.
- Hats every day
- Suncream constantly
Florida heat is no joke, and this made a massive difference in keeping everyone comfortable.
Slower Mornings
We didn’t rope drop.
Some days we didn’t even get there until 11 or 12.
And honestly? It helped so much.
- Kids were well rested
- Mornings felt calm
- No rushing
Not Letting the Rain Ruin It
We had a lot of rain—including cancelling a water park day.
But instead of letting it ruin things, we adapted:
- Switched plans
- Embraced it
- Carried on
And some of those days ended up being the most memorable.
Not Overplanning Everything
This might be the biggest one.
We didn’t try to do everything.
- No rigid schedules
- No pressure
- Just going with what worked that day
And it made the whole trip feel like a holiday—not a checklist.
Final Thoughts
You don’t need loads of complicated hacks to make Disney easier.
For us, it came down to:
- Snacks
- Comfort
- Flexibility
- Lower expectations
And honestly? That’s what made the biggest difference.
