Before we went to Disney, I had a bit of a dilemma.
I wanted to create content.
I wanted to capture everything.
But I also didn’t want to spend the whole trip behind my phone.
Because at the end of the day, I’m there as a mum first.
So this is how I balanced both—without it taking over the trip.
I Didn’t Try to Capture Everything
This was the biggest shift.
I didn’t:
- Film every moment
- Take perfectly staged photos
- Stop the kids to “get the shot”
Instead, I focused on:
- Quick snaps
- Natural moments
- Capturing things as they happened
And honestly? Those are the photos I love the most now.
I Didn’t Post in Real Time
This made such a difference.
I wasn’t posting:
- Where we were
- What we were doing
- In the moment
Instead, I:
- Saved everything
- Posted later
- Shared once we were home
It took the pressure off completely—and also felt safer not sharing our location live.
The Kids Came First (Always)
If the kids needed something, that came first.
Not content.
Not photos.
Not “just one more video”.
And that meant:
- No frustration
- No forcing moments
- No turning it into a job
I Kept It Simple
No complicated setups.
No tripods.
No overthinking.
Just:
- My phone
- Quick photos
- Occasional clips
That was it.
I Chose Moments, Not Everything
Instead of trying to capture the whole day, I picked moments:
- A quick photo before a ride
- A snapshot of food
- A little video clip here and there
And then I put my phone away again.
I Let Myself Miss Things
This one matters.
I didn’t capture everything.
Some moments weren’t filmed. Some weren’t photographed.
And that’s okay.
Because I was in them instead.
Final Thoughts
You don’t have to choose between enjoying your trip and creating content.
You just have to choose when you’re doing each.
For me, it was:
- Be present first
- Capture second
- Share later
And it meant I got the best of both.
