Things I Do to Make Life Easier (That Aren’t Revolutionary)

I feel like there’s this idea that to make life easier, you need systems.

Routines.

Organisation.

A level of togetherness that I just don’t naturally have.

And while I’m sure all of that helps… this is not that kind of list.

These are just small things I do that make life slightly easier, without requiring me to suddenly become a completely different person.

Leaving things longer than I probably should is a big one, especially when it comes to laundry, because sometimes it just isn’t urgent, and I’ve learnt that not everything needs to be done immediately.

Snack drawers have helped more than I expected, mostly because it means the kids can get things themselves without asking me 47 times a day, which feels like a small but significant win.

Accepting a certain level of mess instead of constantly fighting it has probably made the biggest difference, because trying to keep everything perfect all the time is exhausting and, realistically, not going to happen.

Doing things in a way that works for me, rather than how I think they “should” be done, has taken a while to get used to, but it makes everything feel a bit more manageable.

Sometimes that means shortcuts.

Sometimes that means leaving things.

Sometimes that means just deciding that good enough is good enough.

I’ve also stopped expecting every day to be productive, because some days are just about getting through, and that counts too.

None of this is groundbreaking.

None of it is going to change your life overnight.

But it does make things feel a little bit easier.

And at this point, I’ll take easier over perfect every single time.
