Some days I am ready with activities, supplies, and the energy of a Pinterest mum.
Other days I am just trying to drink my tea while it is still warm and stop someone from sticking tape to the cat.
This post is for those days.
These are easy kids crafts I’ve found from other brilliant bloggers that don’t require a craft cupboard that looks like a shop, loads of prep, or the emotional strength of a saint. Perfect for rainy days, bored afternoons, or when you need something that keeps them busy without needing you every 12 seconds.
I’ve linked the full tutorials for each one, because these creators explain them far better than I ever could.
1. Paper Plate Animals
This is one of those crafts where kids can just paint, stick, and go wild without it needing to look perfect. Great for younger kids who enjoy the process more than the end result.

2. Toilet Roll Binoculars
If your kids love pretending to be explorers, spies, or “just looking at things very seriously,” this one is a win. Simple supplies and lots of imaginative play afterwards.

3. Handprint Art
Slightly messy, but very cute. These make lovely keepsakes, and kids love seeing their hands turn into animals or characters.

4. Paper Chain Snakes or Decorations
Low mess, low stress, and surprisingly calming. Great for kids who like repetitive sticking and cutting.

5. Painted Stones
Perfect for outside time. Kids can collect stones, paint them, and either keep them or hide them for others to find. It feels like an activity and a mission.

6. Cardboard Box Creations
Before you throw away that big box, let them turn it into a car, house, or “mystery invention.” This one can keep them busy for ages.

7. Paper Plate Masks
Great for dramatic kids. Once the masks are made, the games begin.

Why I Love Having a List Like This
I do not want to reinvent crafts every time someone says they are bored. Having a go-to list saves my brain on days when my energy is low but they still need something to do.
Sometimes being a good mum just means finding something that keeps them busy while you sit down for five minutes. And that counts.
